WHY DID JESUS COME TO EARTH?

BARBARA E. PERKINS

WHY DID JESUS COME TO EARTH?

That is a very simple question and most Christians can answer.  Most of us are familiar with John 3:16-17 that provides an easy to understand answer to the question, Why Did Jesus Come to Earth.  It shares God’s word, about His Son and us (NKJV), “16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”  God has shown us so much mercy by not dooming us to eternal death (Revelation 20;10-15) and He has showered us with His grace, the gift of His awesome Son, Jesus Christ, and everlasting life (Ephesians 2:8).  Now that’s love!  Jesus expressed why He came to Earth in John 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”  Jesus said He came to give us abundant life.  He warns of the thief that comes to take everything from us, destroy, and kill us.  But, we have the victory in Christ Jesus (1 Corinthians 15:57).  However, if Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior (Romans 10:9-10) when we leave this Earth realm, our final flight will be to heaven to be with God and Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 5:8).  We can see from the previous Scriptures that salvation is really important to God’s and His, Son, Jesus Christ’s plan for our lives.  God’s word in 2 Peter declares, “The Lord is … not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.“  God does not want mankind to die in their sins and neither should we.  In Luke 15:10 Jesus declares, “Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”  If, God sent us His only Son to save us from our sins—and He did.  If, Jesus the Christ came to Earth, took our sins, endured humiliation, abuse, and betrayal for our salvation—and He did.  If, the angels in heaven rejoice over one sinner who repents—and they did.  Then why can’t we the body of Christ, God’s people make time for sinners to repent and get saved?  Why can’t SALVATION be a priority for the body of Christ?  Are we too busy for SALVATION?  Have we forgotten our first Love (Revelation 2:4)?  LORD GOD, please forgive, us Your people.  Jesus Christ, Savior and Lord, please forgive us for not allowing Salvation to be a priority whenever we fellowship with the body of Christ or with the lost or, wherever we happen to be.  Pray, pray, pray saints for the lost to be saved because that’s why Jesus Christ came to Earth.

Would you like to be saved and develop a relationship with God as your Heavenly Father?  If you would really like to know God, invite His Son, Jesus Christ, into your heart.  Please pray this prayer:  Dear God, please forgive me of my sins.  I believe in my heart that Jesus Christ is Your Son.  I believe that He died on the cross, shed His blood, and rose from the grave for my salvation.  I confess Jesus right now as my Savior and Lord.  God fill me with your Holy Spirit so that I can live a life that pleases You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!  If you prayed this prayer and
meant it, based on Roman 10:9-10, you are saved.  Welcome into God’s Family!
