CREATED IN GOD’S IMAGE
Part 1

In the beginning of our story in the Book of Genesis 1:26-28 (NKJV), it starts with “Then God said, “LET US MAKE MAN IN OUR IMAGE, ACCORDING TO OUR LIKENESS; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 SO GOD CREATED MAN IN HIS OWN IMAGE; in the image of God He created him; MALE and FEMALE He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.’”  These are three very powerful Scriptures.  They reveal what Almighty God declared to His powerful Team, Christ (His Son) and the Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:2, Hebrews 1:2), when He said, “Let Us make man in Our IMAGE, according to Our LIKENESS…” to have dominion over everything.  My God!  He entrusted mankind with so much authority.  Then God did exactly what He said He would do.  In verse 27, God let us know without a doubt, that it was MAN and WOMAN that He created in His OWN IMAGE.  Hallelujah!!!  Every time I read these three Scriptures, I am in awe of our Great God and His love for mankind.  Just awesome!!!  After making man and woman in His image, as if that wasn’t enough, God BLESSED THEM in verse 28.  He reiterated that they (MAN and WOMAN) were to be fruitful, multiply, as well as to subdue and have dominion over ALL the Earth.  What a tremendous blessing!  God created mankind to be like HIMSELF with all the power and ability to do what He said they were to do. But, God also gave man and woman a free will, so they would not be robots.  Nevertheless, in spite of all the power and authority Almighty God had bestowed on mankind, Adam and Eve fell in the Garden of Eden (Genesis Chapter 3).  Instead of obeying the word of Almighty God; they chose to listen to and be deceived by the words of the serpent (satan), a creeping thing that they were supposed to subdue and have dominion over.  In Part 2, as our story continues, we will take another look at why mankind was created in God’s image and given so much power.

Would you like to be saved and develop a relationship with God as your Heavenly Father?  If you would really like to know God, invite His Son, Jesus Christ, into your heart.  Please pray this prayer:  Dear God, please forgive me of my sins.  I believe in my heart that Jesus Christ is Your Son.  I believe that He died on the cross, shed His blood, and rose from the grave for my salvation.  I confess Jesus right now as my Savior and Lord.  God fill me with your Holy Spirit so that I can live a life that pleases You.
